Karaoke & Butterflies: A Late Bloomer's Journey for Owning Peace & Love

 What does "Karaoke & Butterflies" mean?


Karaoke (sound and listening) = pure joy and meditation for the soul. Friendships and common ground comes through love of music. 


Butterflies (metamorphosis) = All about facing fears, worries and change to become free of your grievances and your perception of grievances people may have caused you. 


Art (Visual and Social) = passion and spiritual expression at your core of what is on your mind. 


For me, these are all are forms of self care, emotional outlets and release, and transitions and accountability for life choices. 

This is me, "Whimsy Jenny" navigating through multiple life event changes. Most everything that has happened over the last few months have been moments I could have said, "if you woulda' told me a year ago that I would... I'd never believe you" Yeah, it's been a grand adventure of trials and tribulations. 

Ride along with me as I joy and soul search my way in new surroundings with a fresh clean canvas. We will laugh, cry, dance, sing, paint and have chats as thoughts and challenges appear. I can't promise you will learn anything new about life, but I can promise you that it will be interesting at times and boring other times.

I am taking a Criminal Justice class this semester, and my most recent assignment was on deviances. My Professor had commented on my paper and suggested I look at the Overton Window to see how these things play out in government.    The Overton Window refers to the range of public policy ideas considered acceptable by the mainstream at a given time. Ideas outside that window are viewed as radical, extreme, or unacceptable. Over time, politicians, activists, media, and interest groups work to shift that window left, right, up, or down, so that what once seemed radical becomes mainstream, and what once was mainstream may move toward the fringes. In the criminal-justice context (and more broadly in governance), shifting this window matters. If the window moves toward greater federal centralization and executive power, policies that expand federal government oversight and reduce local autonomy may become “reasonable” rather than exceptional. Food Fight In West Virginia-BANGARANG!!!

Passing a law banning certain food additives in West Virginia is going to be a complex but potentially beneficial move, especially considering the state’s struggles with high rates of obesity, heart disease, and other diet-related health issues.  But first, I have a few thoughts that go back more than 10 years ago as a health & wellness advocate in West Virginia. When I began advocating for better nutrition as a school volunteer, I had a solid goal as PTO President, ensure that my daughter's elementary school was the healthiest school in the county. I did many things to accomplish this goal including starting a youth wellness council for the elementary school students to give them the opportunity to be ambassadors of health & wellness to their peers, families and their community. Apples & Oranges

The orange may grab attention, but it will never age as gracefully as the apple. Some Trump supporters like to draw comparisons between Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump, especially around economics and ideology. On the surface, you might think they share the same conservative DNA. Both were Republicans. Both talked about cutting taxes, fighting inflation, and putting “America first.” But that’s where the similarities end. When it comes to how they spoke to Americans, led through crisis, and respected the weight of the office, we’re not comparing apples to apples. We’re comparing apples to oranges. In this case, Trump is the orange.
